Kimberley Kaleidoscope Arts and Cultural Festival is an annual celebration of arts and culture in its many diverse forms in the Kimberley region. You’ll experience a series of visual, performing, and literary arts events that include live music, art, the spoken word, photography, painting, performances and workshops.
The various events during the 8-day event provide visitors with opportunities to see and often participate in, some of the performances, demonstrations and workshops. Local, regional and also touring artists have their work showcased and receive remuneration for their performances and workshop participation, and can also sell their work.
2018 Schedule of Events
Saturday, August 18
- 3-day Plein Air Painting Workshop with Mirja Valhala (acrylic or oil) – Kimberley Kaleidoscope Arts & Culture Festival – Entry fee $225
- Outdoor Concert with “Buckman Coe” – Roots – 6 pm – Opening band “Riff” – 7:30 pm – “Buckman Coe” – in the outdoor concert area – admission by donation
Monday, August 20
- Jazz Night with local musicians – Kimberley Kaleidoscope Arts & Culture Festival – at Studio 64 – Admission $25 – no host bar
Tuesday, August 21
- Salsa Social Dance Night with Dance With Me Cranbrook – Salsa dance
workshop followed by social dance night – at Studio 64 – Cost $25 – no host bar
Wednesday, August 22
- 6 pm – Da-VIN-Ci Paint Night with Lori Joe – Introduction to acrylic painting, lots of fun, social environment – at Studio 64 – Cost
$40 + GST members, $45 + GST non-members
Thursday, August 23
- Writer’s Workshop – Kimberley Kaleidoscope Arts & Culture Festival – 10 am to 4 pm – Cost $65
- Spoken Word with Ivan Coyote and local writers – Kimberley Kaleidoscope Arts & Culture Festival. Cost $25 adults, $15 youth – no host bar
Friday, August 24
- 7:30 pm – “Arts on the Edge” – Exhibition Opening Gala Reception – 14th Annual Adjudicated Regional Exhibitions for Established & Emerging Artists – at Centre 64 Gallery & Studio 64 – there will be live entertainment, a live auction and the ‘Arts on the Edge’ awards presentation. Come meet the artists. Refreshments will be served
Saturday, August 25
- 10 am to 1 pm – “Bag it!” Textile Workshop with Eco Artist Darcy Wanuk – turn your old jeans into a bag – at Studio 64 – Cost $35 – bring your own sewing machine if you have one. Learn to think outside the box and reduce textile waste, it’s fun!
- 11 am to 1 pm – Children’s Festival in the Kimberley Platzl
- 8 pm – “The Bix Mix Boys” in Concert – Bluegrass – in the Centre 64 Theatre – Doors open at 7:30 pm – Admission $25 – no host bar
