David Braid & the Borealis String Quartet present ‘Chauvet’
Apr 7, 2016 7:00 pm| $5 - $25
Juno Award winner David Braid and the famed Borealis String Quartet are is returning to Golden to present ‘Chauvet’, an evening of cutting-edge music you won’t want to miss!
Music lovers will likely remember David’s solo piano concert a few years back. And Borealis played here at the old hall in 2005, so this promises to be a spectacular event, one of the highlights of Golden’s cultural season. This time, the master pianist/composer and the renowned ensemble have collaborated to perform several elegant classical pieces and some of his recent jazz compositions for piano and string quartet.
The critically-acclaimed Borealis String Quartet is known for its fiery performances, it passionate style and refined musical interpretation. The Vancouver-based ensemble has, since its inception in 2000, performed for sold-out audiences in major cities across North America, Europe and Asia. Presently, they are the Quartet in Residence at the University of British Columbia.
The title piece of the concert is “Chauvet”. Inspired by the Werner Herzog film “Cave of Forgotten Dreams”, the film explores the highly sophisticated art, estimated to be 30,000 years old, which was found on the walls of the Chauvet Caves of the Ardeche region of southern France.
