Kimberley Nordic Centre
The Kimberley Nordic Centre, located near the Kimberley Alpine Resort, is the home of the Kimberley Nordic Club. There are over 30 km of trails that offer great adventures in every season.
The Kimberley Nordic Centre’s trail network is a first class facility with snowcat-groomed trails. The trails offer varying degrees of difficulty and length so that all levels of nordic skiers will have an enjoyable experience. There are:
- 30 km of double track
- 6.5 km of single track
- a centre skating lane
- narrow single track trails to accommodate the more adventuresome bushwhacker
- the 3.3 kilometre lit loop offers great night skiing every evening from dusk to 10 pm
- a 1 km lit sprint loop
- trails specifically for Paralympic skiers
- fat biking
Summer / Fall
In warm weather, the trails offer pleasure for hikers and bikers and also hook up with the 1,800 -acre Kimberley Nature Park for even more challenges. There is no charge but donations are always welcome.
The Kimberley Trail Society (KTS) has a network of single track mountain biking trails at the Nordic Centre.
There is a 1,200 sq ft lodge, washrooms, racer’s warming/waxing hut that becomes the centre of operations for such events as the annual Round the Mountain Festival in June. Kixs Nor Am races, the Snowkids program, the Kootenay Cup, the New Years Eve Torchlight Ski and the Iron Legs Pentathlon.
With accommodation for 50 people, the lodge may be rented for private events such as meetings, pot lucks or socials. There is a kitchen, lounge area, banquet tables and chairs
The Kimberley Nordic Centre is a user-pay facility in the ski season.
Skis and lockers are available to rent.
Drive past the Kimberley Alpine Resort on Gerry Sorenson Way and continue until the road becomes North Star Drive. The Nordic Centre is at the end of this road.
