Fernie Court House

Fernie Court House

102 - 11 Avenue South
Fernie,
250-426-1234

The Fernie Court House has seen many do-overs since the first building that was constructed in 1898, one of them the result of the Fernie Fire of 1908. Each of the replacements was grander than the one before until today, the Fernie Court House is a heritage site, a major tourist attraction, and a popular subject for photographers and painters.

The building is even spoken of as the most majestic court house building in Canada and, in 2014, was awarded the BC ‘Best Buildings Award’ for a court house.

On the court house grounds are the Fernie Cenotaph which is the site of the Remembrance Day ceremonies each year and a free outdoor skating rink for everyone to enjoy when the weather permits.
