Fairmont Community Den
The Fairmont Community Den in Fairmont Hot Springs has a story to tell. For many years, the service club had wanted their own “den” but unfortunately, Fairmont, as an unincorporated community with no local government, was unable to offer them any financial help. The price of land itself was daunting but to add a building to that cost – well, it was way out of reach for the small service group.
They kept looking and hoping, though, and when a piece of property on which stood a perfect building came onto the market, the whole community got behind a massive fund-raising project. The new Fairmont Community Den was officially opened on June 24, 2013.
Not only is the building now the home of the local Lions Club, but it is also a community hall for small groups and organizations. One such group has been the Headwaters Art Society which has used the venue for their art exhibitions. The regular fundraiser garage sales which the Lions previously had to hold elsewhere, has now found a home as well.
