The Canal Flats Civic Centre, since its opening in 1968 as part of the Centennial Project, is the cultural and recreational heart of the Village of Canal Flats. It was enlarged in the early 1980s and today, the people of the community come together at the Civic Centre for a variety of events during the calendar year.
Bingo nights on the 1st and 3rd Mondays every month attract a great group of friends and neighbors. There are the community garage sales, Halloween events and the annual Christmas Party for the whole village and lots more. The local seniors meet regularly in the basement.
The Civic Centre is also available to rent for private functions such as weddings, dances, birthday parties and family reunions. The facility has a capacity for about 250 people, with a small stage and a sound system. It features a fully-equipped kitchen, fridges and a freezer, a bar area for serving drinks, dishes, tables and chairs. There is also a small room which is used by the Food Bank.
The arena is close by the civic centre, along with a ball field and a park as well as a new pump track.
