Outdoor adventures
When people think of the Columbia Valley they usually think of the out-of-doors in the fresh mountain air with spectacular scenery all around. True Key Adventures can help you put together some fantastic tours that will make your vacation one for the memory books.
ATV tours. Book an unforgettable full-day or half-day tour, a waterfall tour or a wildlife viewing tour. There are thrilling backcountry experiences for all skills and ages.
Golfing adventures. There are nearly a dozen spectacular golf courses at Golden, Radium Hot Springs, Invermere, Panorama, Fairmont, Kimberley and Cranbrook, each offering a unique golfing experience amid breathtaking mountain vistas. There’s a whole golf vacation waiting just for you!
A gondola / wildlife experience of a lifetime. Take a gondola ride up Kicking Horse Mountain at Golden to the largest enclosed and protected grizzly bear habitat in the world, the home of resident grizzly, Boo. Sighting Boo will be one of your favorite memories of your mountain vacation.
Adventures on horseback. Enjoy the peaceful serenity of a trail along the western slopes of the Rockies on the back of a horse. Guided trail rides last from an hour to overnight and are suitable for everyone.
Zipline thrills. Experience the ride of your life on this seven-line canopy tour, first soaring over the Dry Gulch valley and then finishing on a monster (nearly 900 ft. long) zipline. Contrary to what it may look like from the ground, ziplining is an exciting and very safe way to view the spectacular scenery.
Scenic flights and gliding. Enjoy viewing breathtaking vistas of mountain lakes and the Columbia Valley with one of several tours by Babin Air of Invermere. Don’t forget to bring your camera! It’s a great way to get to know the valley.
Water activities. The valley’s clear, sparking lakes and rivers offer a host of adventures for you and your family — from exhilarating to calm and peaceful. True Key Adventures can help you plan some really cool water activities that everyone in the family can enjoy.
Exhilarating whitewater rafting. Whether it’s a thrill-of-a-lifetime adventure on some class 3 or 4 whitewater or a peaceful float for the family, everyone can experience a most memorable adventure on the Kootenay or Kicking Horse rivers, Toby Creek or Skookumchuk Creek.
Kayak or canoe paddles. Book a guided trip into the celebrated wetlands of the Columbia River for a first-hand look at some of the abundant wildlife that make their homes in this protected area. Be sure to bring your camera!
Boating adventures on Lake Windermere. Experience Lake WIndermere in an easy-to-operate rental power boat, complete with Sea Doo, water skis, tube or wakeboard. It’s a great way to really enjoy the water up close!
Guided fishing excursion. Enjoy an unforgettable day or half day fishing the mountain lakes and breathtaking rivers in the Columbia Valley area. You don’t have to be experienced and everything you need is provided.
Winter activities
With plenty of sunshine and lots of the fluffy white stuff, the Columbia Valley offers legendary winter fun. Choose from skiing and boarding at top-rated resorts to cross-country skiing on peaceful wilderness trails or try some ice fishing from a hut on Lake Windermere. True Key Adventures will make sure you don’t miss a thing!
Skiing and boarding. Ski or board down some of the longest and most challenging runs in BC at Panorama Mountain Resort or Kicking Horse Mountain Resort, or spend a day with the family at the Fairmont family ski hill, a favorite with all ages.
Snowmobiling. All skill levels can appreciate the magic of the season in the valley on a snowmobile. Ride into the backcountry on a tour lasting from an hour up to a full day for an authentic mountain experience that you won’t soon forget.
Snowshoeing and cross-country skiing. At Nipika Mountain Resort you can experience a ‘self-propelled’ adventure. Have some fun cross-country skiing or snowshoeing along silent backcountry trails. There’s ice skating and tobogganing with your family or group, too.
Ice fishing. Rent an ice fishing hut on frozen Lake WIndermere and bring up to 5 of your friends or family members along too. Holes in the ice are cut and there’s a heater to keep you warm and cozy as you enjoy the scenery and hope to snag the big one!
