In 1993 he opened the doors of K-5 Mechanical in Invermere Industrial Park and since then he, his wife Wendy (who is the office manager) and their eldest son Richard (who has now been with them for 16 years) have operated this family business together. Over time, three licensed mechanics have joined the team and now there is a total of seven staff members. Fred treats everyone like family and it pays off in the friendly, relaxed atmosphere of the shop.
There is just about no automotive repair that K-5 Mechanical is not able to handle in their shop. They work on front suspensions, air conditioning, exhaust systems, drive lines, engines, electrical systems, transmissions, differentials, wheel alignments, flat repairs, rotations, and more.
The shop has four hoists, fully computerized scanning and diagnostic tools and electronic equipment to repair even the most complex problems. They work on both domestic vehicles and imports, including European makes, 4WD’s and pickups. Being a heavy-duty mechanic gives Fred the ability and the know-how to work on snowplows, winches, lift decks and power tailgates as well.
Beside the fact that the company does excellent service work for its customers with as short a turnaround time as possible, Fred tries to keep costs affordable because he understands that automobile ownership is expensive. He also offers free pickup and delivery of vehicles locally.
K-5 Mechanical is open five days a week, year round.
Excellent service. Our truck died on us on our way back to edmonton. We stopped at three other shops who basically would not fit us in. We stumbled upon k5 and although they were busy they were able to fit our truck in. They even gave us a free ride to a local pub for lunch and picked us up. The manager Richard and his staff were professional and didnt gouge us. Best service I’ve had in years.
You rock Richard thanks
Rims are awesome
