Wolak-Donnelly Duo in concert

Columbia Valley Arts Council presents the Wolak-Donnelly Duo in concert at Christ Church Trinity. It is an honor to have them come to Invermere.The Wolak-Donnelly Duo is an internationally-touring clarinet/piano ensemble, with versatile pianist Chris Donnelly and clarinetist Kornel Wolak.
Chris Donnelly is a Juno-nominated pianist and composer who has been compared to a young Duke Ellington. Trained both as a classical and jazz pianist, his repertoire which includes an eclectic mix of jazz, ragtime, stride, gospel, improvisation, original works and classical music, astounds listeners world-wide.
Chris is a Steinway artist, an Associate Composer at the Canadian Music Centre and an instructor at the University of Toronto.
Kornel Wolok is a Polish-born clarinetist whose work has been admired by audiences at more than 90 concerts in North America alone. He has been a soloist with the Quebec Symphony Orchestra, Toronto Sinfonietta, Poland’s Poznan Philharmonic Orchestra, the Charleston Symphony Orchestra and others.
As a student, he won first prize in the Poznan Clarinet Wind Instruments Competition, the Polish All-Wind Instruments Competition, and the Indiana University Clarinet Department Competition. Later, he won the Glenn Gould School’s Concerto Competition (2005), the Royal Conservatory’s Concerto Competition ( 2006), the Presser Music Award from the Presser Foundation.
Kornel established Music Mind Canada, an initiative that designs, promotes and produces educational programs for schools, local communities and others desiring to learn about music.
