Sun, Sand and Sport Thursdays at Kinsmen Beach are for everyone! And they’re FREE!

The District of Invermere is gearing up for the summer and wants the community to join us for some summer fun on Thursday nights throughout July and August. We’ll be hosting a number of free family friendly events combining fun in the sun, sand and sports at Kinsmen Beach. GIANT Jenga, scrabble, checkers, dominos, bubbles and side walk chalk will be available every week!

Here’s the schedule:

July 5th – Campfire Night (Unless fire ban)) – We’ll kick off our free community summer series with a Campfire Night. Gather with friends, family and community members roasting marshmallows, making smores, sharing stories and to enjoy the beach at night! No registration is required- Adult supervision is required! Bring a chair or a blanket. Instruments are very welcome!

July 12 – Zumba on the Beach- It’s fun, its fitness, its Zumba! What exactly is it and why do people love it so much? Join Instructors Julie Parent and Elke Gulbe in this Latin-inspired cardio-dance workout. Zumba uses music and choreographed steps to form a fun fitness party atmosphere.

July 19 – Tie Dye and Hula Hoop Thursday- Use rubber bands and dye to create a bright tie-dyed creation in a unique pattern. Bring anything white ( t-shirt , pillow case, socks…you name it) and the supplies to dye it will be provided! Starting at 6:30 pm Join local hula hooping expert Leah Shoemaker for a hula hooping workshop and a fun soundtrack! Bring your own hula hoop, a limited supply of hoops will be available! No previous skills are required!

July 26 – Capture the Flag – Bring friends or family as your team goes against others in the ultimate game of capture the flag! In this fast-paced game that combines speed, agility and strategy, see if your team can reign victorious. Don’t have a team? Not a problem – I will be putting teams of competitors together as well. August 2 – Sand Beach Volleyball- This a fun night for anyone who wants to play beach volleyball. Meet new people, sharpen your skills and have fun! All skill levels are welcome! Register your team today: Send an email to events@invermere.net if you wish to play! Drop- ins are also welcome!

August 9 -Yoga on the Beach- The beach is your studio on this evening of yoga fun! Everyone is welcome to join Mountain OM Yoga for a fun family night of Yoga on the Beach. Drop-in, no registration required. Beginners to advanced encouraged, regardless of your skill level this is the class for you! This class will be by donation!
August 16-Frisbee- If you have never played ultimate Frisbee now is your chance! Score points by passing a Frisbee to a teammate over the opposing team’s goal line. Send an email to events@invermere.net if you wish to play! Drop- ins are also welcome, no experience is necessary!

August 23 – Super SUP Night- Get ready for some fun, action packed stand up paddle fun on Lake Windermere with Columbia River Paddle!

August 30 – End of Summer Splash Bash – Lets wrap up this amazing summer with a pumped up Beach Party!
