The Sugar Plum Festival is Fernie’s spectacular month-long community celebration of the holiday season. The Arts Station and the historic downtown area come alive  with events for everyone to share – families, friends and neighbors – of every age! It’s pure magic!

The festival has an early beginning on November 30 with the opening of the Holiday Wreath Gallery – come and see the magnificent display for the whole month of December.

Here’s a tentative schedule for the 2017 Sugar Plum Festival:

  • Saturday, Dec. 2 – ‘Sugarcoated’ – a Nutcracker-themed musical theatre show with matinee and evening performances
  • Saturday, Dec. 9 – ‘Tutus and Tails’, a children’s extravaganza
  • Saturday, Dec. 16 – ‘A Fernie Christmas Story’, a theatre event
  • Sunday, Dec. 17 – a screening of the Royal Opera House ‘Nutcracker Ballet’ at the Vogue Theatre
  • Friday, Dec. 22 – a children’s Christmas Craft workshop
  • Friday, Dec. 22 – caroling by candlelight – with hot chocolate

** If the weather permits, there will be an ice skating rink on the grounds of the Fernie Courthouse all month long.
