Snowflake Festival

Jan 19, 2018 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

The annual Snowflake Festival had its beginnings in January of 2010 when Invermere BC was selected to host the Olympic Torch as it was carried through the Columbia Valley en-route to the Vancouver Winter Olympics. The whole town celebrated the historical event with a huge celebration. That celebration has continued and developed into a popular yearly winter event.

The annual Bonspiel-on-the-Lake which takes place the third weekend of January each year, coincides with the festival so curling enthusiasts can celebrate alongside everyone who just plain loves to wrap up warmly, get out there on frozen Lake Windermere and have a party.

The festival begins with family ice skating on Lake Windermere, live music  begins at 5 pm, and the Snowflake Lounge (a cash bar) will be open with winter drinks to warm you up. Into the evening, you can enjoy pond hockey, bonfires and more great fun.

Taste of the Valley offers up the most popular culinary delights on the menus of several of the local restaurants from 6 to 8 pm. Purchase a passport for only $10 and sample to your heart’s content!

Fireworks begin at 8 pm. pond hockey, bonfires and more into the evening. The event is FREE and the whole family is invited to come on down to Kinsmen Beach and celebrate winter in all it’s Columbia Valley glory at the Snowflake Festival.

The annual Snowflake Festival is one of the many reasons we love winter here in Invermere. Just wrap up in your coziest winter gear and come on down to Kinsmen Park.
