Lion is a movie based upon the book, A Long Way Home by Saroo Brierley. It tells the true story of Saroo himself who, when he was 5 years old,  was separated from his family in India, became lost, homeless in the streets of India. Then, after a harrowing journey as he attempted to survive alone, was adopted by an Australian couple and raised in the Australian culture.

Twenty-five years later, after having experienced flashbacks of a loving family he once had, Saroo was able to locate his original home and be reunited with his birth family.

The heart-breakingly moving film stars an international cast including Dev Patel, Nicole Kidman, Rooney Mara and newcomer, Sunny Pawar. At the 89th Academy Awards, Lion received 6 Oscar nominations, including Best Picture, Best Supporting Actor (Patel), Best Supporting Actress (Kidman) and Best Adapted Screenplay. At the 70th British Academy Film Awards, it garnered awards for Best Supporting Actor (Patel) and Best Adapted Screenplay.
