Avalanche Awareness Days is a national celebration of Canada’s avalanche safety expertise and an invitation to enjoy the winter back-country with education and training.The Canadian Avalanche Centre (CAC) will be on the mountain for a FREE day-long event of interactive and educational activities. Avalanche experts will be on hand to answer your questions. The Avalanche Awareness Days program is presented by Canadian Pacific Railways with the focus on helping people to make good decisions in avalanche terrain.

Kicking Horse Mountain Resort is hosting the event and everyone is welcome to join!

In partnership with the Canadian Avalanche Center and CARDA (Canadian Avalanche Rescue Dog Association), the KHMR Safety team will have a day of fun, education, hands on demonstrations, and many prizes to be won.

The Schedule for the two-day weekend event is:

• 11:00 am – Transceiver Demo & Race
• 11:30 am – Digging Demo & Race
• 12:00 pm – Dig a snow profile with a pro
• 1:00 pm – CARDA search and rescue demonstration with our avalanche dogs
• 2:00 pm – Watch Explosive Avalanche Control Demonstration with a live blast
