Golden Celebrates Canada Film Day

Kicking Horse Culture - Canada Film Day

Golden Celebrates Canada Film Day this year with a FREE mini-festival for everyone. Kicking Horse Culture’s FILM Kicks will be presenting two amazing films for the whole family at the Golden Cinema to mark Canada’s 150th birthday.

At 5:30 PM

Supported by REEL Canada, we are hosting the first presentation, Nettie Wilde’s documentary of Koneline: our Land Beautiful. The film wonderfully captures the splendor of remote northwestern British Columbia and tells the story of the Tahltan people who call this magnificent land home. The film won the 2016 Best Canadian Feature Documentary award at the Hot Docs Film Festival

At 7:30 PM

Supported by TIFF Film Circuit, enjoy the epic film, Atanarhuat: The Fast Runner. Made by and about the Inuit peoples of the Canadian Arctic, the film is the telling of the story of a crime that ruptures the trust within a closely-knit group and how justice is won and healing begins.

The film is based upon oral versions of the story collected by several elders, collated into a story by writer, Paul Apak Angilin, approved by the elders and then filmed. It garnered 6 awards, including Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television Award for Best Screenplay.

Join us at the movies as Golden celebrates Canada Film Day!

Note: Only 145 tickets are available for each screening! FREE tickets are available at AGOG on a first-come-first-served basis.
