Lake Windermere Open Water Swim

The Lake Windermere Open Water Swim is now part of the CANAQUA SPORTS INC. open water swim series in an effort to promote the sport of Open Water Swimming throughout Canada. Open Water Swimming is an Olympic sport and this is an exciting time for the sport in Canada.
This out and back swim in the magical waters of Lake Windermere starts at 8:00 am. Although Lake Windermere is a warm lake, wet suits are highly recommended. Each course is triangular with one turn-around buoy. Escort canoes and kayaks are recommended for all swimmers.
2 Km Swim:
Participants in the 2Km Swim must be 10 years or older. There are three categories each for male and female: 10-15, 16-19, 20+
5 Km Swim:
Participants in the 5Km Swim must be 12 years or older. There are three categories each for male and female: 12-15, 16-19, 20+
The race starts and finishes at James Chabot Provincial Park in Invermere, BC. The park is located just south of the intersection at Laurier Street on 3rd Avenue and consists of large washrooms, picnic areas, and beach area with ample parking.
