Dawn Mountain Nordic Centre, situated less than 1 km from Kicking Horse Mountain Resort, is home to the Golden Nordic Ski Club. The centre features the beautiful Dawn Mountain Chalet, a heated day lodge with a workshop area for ski waxing, a rental shop, storage, a kitchenette and lounge for rest and recuperation before heading back out onto the trails.

The 33 km of groomed classic and skate skiing trails at Dawn Mountain, surrounded by spectacular mountain scenery, were built and are operated and beautifully groomed by the club within 24 hours of snowfalls by the ski club. Mind the wildlife you might come across on the path! No dogs, walkers, snow-shoers and snow-mobilers are permitted on the these trails.

There are trails especially for snowshoers.

There is one dog trail, Dipsy Doodle, which is 1 km long and perfect for a day out with the four-footed member of the family.

The Dawn Mountain stadium area is perfect for group lessons and events, as well as practising technique.

The Golden Nordic Club hosts regular cross country ski events and programs; these include moonlight skis, Huckleberry loppet, beginner classes, wax clinics and more.

Golden Golf Course Trails

The club also maintains a 6 km of rolling trails on the Golden Golf Course which is closer to downtown Golden. These trails are groomed as needed, for classic skiing only. Users are asked to stay on the trails and keep off the hilly greens which become damaged by traffic. Dogs are not permitted on these trails.

For non-members wishing to use the golf course trails, there is a drop box for your $2 donation which is used to help with golf course grooming.

The Chalet is available for bookings and equipment rental, including snowshoes, is also available at the Dawn Mountain Nordic Centre.
