The Village of Canal Flats is the guiding and governing body in the community. The Mayor and 4 councilors, who are elected for a 4-year term, determining budgets, taxes, development, community needs, etc. by adopting resolutions or bylaws or setting policy.

Council meets the 2^nd and 4^th Monday of the month at the Columbia Discovery Centre. The meetings are open to the public and input from the community during the public question period.
