Summit Youth is a sort of club that is open to all Invermere young people from the ages of 12 to 18 years. They hang out after school and on Saturdays at the Summit Youth Centre and shoot pool, play Foosball, board games or video games, get up a game of basketball in the gym or get help with their homework. There’s always something going on at the Centre – a trip to the Hot Springs, movie nights, glow bowling, snowshoeing, tobogganing, open mic nights and band competitions, art, or cooking workshops, ultimate Frisbee and dances… just to name a few. Teens come and go on a drop-in basis, forming lasting friendships and learning valuable skills that will stand them in good stead for their lifetimes. Each one is encouraged to give back to the community whether by volunteering or offering friendship to another youth who needs a friend.

The Summit Youth facebook page is a good source of information about what’s happening. There is a monthly calendar here and it’s pretty much filled up with something happening every day (except Sundays of course).
