The Columbia Valley Cycling Society (CVCS) has been, since 2006, a member club of the International Mountain Biking Association, with a mission “dedicated to growing the sport of cycling for the health and wealth of our community through a sustainable trail network and respect of public and private land” (from their website).

All their trails have been built to meet or exceed the sustainability and ride-quality guidelines set by the association. At present, they manage the following trails in the Columbia Valley:

  • The Lake Lillian trail network which includes
  • Johnson Trail
  • Junior Johnson Trail
  • Kloosifier Trail
  • Kloosifier Connector
  • And the Mt. Swansea trail network

They have developed a pump track and bike skills area beside Sinclair Creek in Radium Hot Springs and plan to expand the village’s Pump ‘n Jump Park.

The Columbia Valley Cycling Society is a non-profit organization. All its administration and construction is done by volunteers. In order to raise funds, the society holds an annual Bike Swap and a yearly memorial poker rally to honor late riders Brian Johnson and Erwin Kloos. They also hold trail maintenance days and group rides for all ages and levels of ability.

They are family-friendly and hold most of their special events over the weekends so everyone can be involved. They always welcome new members.
