Jul 15, 2017 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
Event Navigation
Wild Nature Tours Wild Food and Medicinal Plants is the next in Wildsight Invermere’s series of educational outings to explore our neighborhood environment. Local naturalist Kalista Pruden will lead participants on a hunt for edible and medicinal wild plants, and talk about how birds and wildlife depend on them too. Learn to identify common edible and medicinal plants, where to find them, how to collect and use them, and about their current and historical cultural uses. This tour is an excellent introduction to ethnobotany and edible and medical plants.
The number of participants is limited to a minimum of 4 and a maximum of 12.
We will meet at 8:45 AM at the Columbia Wetlands access point north of Wilmer. Take Westside Rd. north for about 2.5km past Wilmer. Stop at the first turn-out. We will then head down and around the slopes.
Meet at the first Wilmer Wetlands parking lot along Westside Rd, north of Wilmer at 9:45am. Kalista will guide the group down to Richie’s Point and return to the parking lot by 12 noon.
