Invermere Heart of the Rockies Triathlon

Jul 8, 2018

Triathlon winner

Invermere Heart of the Rockies Triathlon will be 36 years old this year! July 8, 2018 is the 36th anniversary of our hosting a triathlon in the Columbia Valley, the “Heart of the Canadian Rockies”!

All athletes are welcome whether it is your first triathlon race, you are en route to Ironman, or you want to compete on a team, come out and enjoy racing in the spectacular scenery of the Columbia Valley. Cash Prizes are available for Olympic and Sprint Individuals!!

The town of Invermere and the surrounding area on both sides of Lake Windermere are the staging grounds for the Invermere Heart of the Rockies Triathlon. Swimming takes place in the “magical waters” of Lake Windermere, finishing at James Chabot Provincial Park which is also the transition area for this event. The cycle course takes place on scenic Westside Road, and the run course heads east over the Columbia River along Lakeshore Drive, through treed pathways with scenic mountain / lake views to the north and south of the valley. The run may be a challenge but the consolation is that participants finish the last 2 kilometers on an incredibly scenic downhill to James Chabot Provincial Park. In the world of triathlon, you will not find a more spectacular race venue than Lake Windermere in the foreground with the majestic Fairmont Mountain Range (Rocky Mountains) as a backdrop. As an added bonus, the transition and parking facilities are within 100 meters of the start and finish – again, it does not happen anywhere else.
