Invermere Community Hall public consultation
Jun 15, 2017 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
An Invermere Community Hall public consultation is being planned to give residents of the community an opportunity to have input into the development of a plan for future use of the property once the building has been demolished.
The building was once known as the Lake Windermere Memorial Community Hall, built to memorialize the men and women who lost their lives overseas in the wars. It is decades old and repairs to the roof which is falling in, a floor that needs replacing and a boiler which is ancient (and that’s just for starters) would be far more costly than would be sensible. So the building must be demolished – there will be no saving it – the replacement being the new Columbia Valley Centre, which is expected to open in late August or early September.
There have been some suggestions already for a future use of the property which is at the corner of 12 St. and 10 Ave (across from Peppi’s Pizzeria); however, the District of Invermere needs your input. Bring your ideas to the Invermere Community Hall public consultation. Everyone’s welcome to attend.
