An Historic Mountain Gathering

This historic mountain gathering at the Windermere Valley Museum in Invermere will be to commemorate the opening of the Banff-Windermere Highway on June 30, 1923. Presented by the Slow Food Columbia Valley, Windermere Valley Historical Society and the Columbia Valley Corridor Association, along with Parks Canada, the event will focus on the colorful history of the building of the highway and linking to the local food scene and Canada’s 150th birthday.
There will be a family-style cold food feast catered by local chefs from Cafe Allium, Edibles Farm and Cafe and From Scratch a Mountain Kitchen, using local ingredients.
The entertainment will include re-enactments by the Windermere District Historical Society who will shed some light on the the history by providing an educational presentation.
The theme of the historic mountain gathering is 1920s and guests are encouraged to dress in period costumes if possible.
Tickets may be purchased at Circle Health Food at Frater Landing in Invermere.
