It’s Hip to be Square! Well it certainly is when it comes to this square dance evening. Last year, Invermere had never seen the likes of this event and the second annual dance coming up is definitely one that is not to be missed.

How about a square dance where you don’t need to bring a partner and you don’t need to know how to square dance?  Caller Leslie Gotfrit will guide you in the steps and by the end of the evening you’ll be dosey-doing and allemande-lefting like a pro!

Leslie and her band hail from Alberta and as their gift back to the community, have been presenting It’s Hip to be Square dances in both Alberta and the East Kootenay, bringing to many communities evenings of high-spirited fun and fabulous music.

All evening long, the band, which can have as many as 15 or more incredibly talented musicians on the stage at one time, will be playing pretty much non-stop, everything from squares to circles, mixers and keepers. and in-between, enjoy acts like Red Girl. You can dance all evening!

There will be refreshments for sale at the event, provided by Slow Food Columbia Valley, and a cash bar with Arrowhead Breweries, along with non-alcoholic beverages.
