Fernie’s Avalanche Awareness Day
Jan 20, 2018
Avalanche Awareness Days is a national celebration of Canada’s avalanche safety expertise and an invitation to enjoy the winter back-country with education and training. The Canadian Avalanche Centre (CAC) will be on the mountain for a FREE day-long event of interactive and educational activities. Avalanche experts will be on hand to answer your questions.
To prevent avalanche accidents and help people make good decisions in avalanche terrain, the Canadian Avalanche Centre (CAC) share their expertise to help people keep safe in the mountains during Avalanche Awareness Day.
Learn about your winter environment from our very own Fernie Pro Patrol with fun and interactive activities for the whole family. Activities include transceiver education & demo, trivia, and everyone’s favourite – the CARDA dog demos!
There will also be a fundraising gear auction in the Griz Bar and all proceeds will go to support snow safety education programs at the Canadian Avalanche Centre.
The Avalanche Awareness Days program is presented by Canadian Pacific Railways with the focus on helping people to make good decisions in avalanche terrain.
