‘Bat Week’ talk in Invermere

Oct 27, 2017 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Townsend's bat

‘Bat Week’ is being marked in Invermere, just in time for Halloween, with a FREE community talk by representative of the Kootenay Community Bat Project, biologist Leigh Anne Isaac.

Ms. Isaac will talk about one of the major threats to bat population survival, namely White Nose Syndrome, which is responsible for wiping out millions of bats in North America. The disease is caused by a particular fungus found in bat caves.

The bat, unlike the popular conception, is a true friend of the environment, consuming bugs and mosquitos and thus aiding in the health of crops.

The Bat Week presentation comes to Invermere with the help of the Columbia Valley Local Conservation Fund and the Lake Windermere District Rod & Gun Club.

This is a FREE event and everyone’s welcome.
