Wild Ideas

May 18, 2017 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm

May’s Wild Ideas discussion  will be a casual, open sharing of ideas facilitated by Andrea Smillie. Sponsored by Wildsight, Wild Ideas is a FREE discussion at the Circle Cafe each month.

Our discussion this month is about bears.

“Bears: most people love them, many fear them, and many blame the animal when conflict occurs – but this is often due to a lack of understanding on our part. The reality is that we share the landscape with these “majestic”, “terrifying”, or “nuisance” creatures, having similar food interests and landscape requirements. Many British Columbians have a good sense of how to co-exist with bears, but there are a lot of myths out there!”  – from Wildsight’s website at: https://wildsight.ca/events/wild-ideas-invermere-coexisting-with-bears/

Together, we will look at the myths surrounding bears and address the human-wildlife conflict in the back-country and in our communities.

This is a FREE event and everyone is welcome. Food and drinks are available for purchase.

Are you interested in becoming an active participant in the ongoing effort to keep our Columbia Valley environment healthy for our families and for all life? If the answer is yes, there’s a place for you at the table at Circle Cafe where ‘wild ideas’ are exchanged and discussed the 3rd Thursday of each month. This is your chance to put your ideas together with others and make a difference.
