Windermere Lake Provincial Park
Windermere Lake Provincial Park, on the west side of Lake Windermere, was at one time the Sunshine Ranch. Purchased in 1961, the land was officially established as a BC Class A park in 1999. It was designated a park to “preserve its natural environment for the inspiration and enjoyment of the public.
“Today, Windermere Lake Provincial Park protects one of the last remaining tracts of native grassland and riparian (waterside) habitats along the shores of Lake Windermere. Large populations of ungulates (white-tail deer, mule deer and elk) also use this area for winter range, providing plenty of opportunities for wildlife viewing and photographing.” — BC Parks
