Wild Nature Tours: ‘Flycatchers to Nutcrackers’
Oct 14, 2017 7:45 am
Wild Nature Tours, hosted by Wildsight Invermere, is back again this year with the popular birding adventure ‘Flycatchers to Nutcrackers.’ Please come along for a walk on the WILD side in the Columbia Valley.
Wildsight Invermere is bringing back Wild Nature Tours. You are invited to take a walk on the WILD side in the Columbia Valley with local naturalist and enthusiastic birder, Cam Gillies. We’re going to visit the wetlands for a ‘bird’s-eye view’ of some of the nesting birds in the area.
Discover the wetlands, grasslands and forest that make the Columbia Valley an amazing place for birds! Spring and Fall are prime time for birds with over 180 species breeding in the area and an incredible medley of song. Join local naturalist and avid birder Cam Gillies for a birding excursion to experience some of this local wonder. There’s an event in June and another one in October so you can choose one or both!
Cam Gillies grew up in Invermere enjoying the birds and mountains of British Columbia. As a keen birder, photographer and co-owner of Eagle-Eye Tours, he is excited to share his passion with others. He earned a PhD at the University of Alberta and has participated in numerous research projects, from catching endangered Leopard Frogs to snow tracking Wolverines. He has traveled and birded his way through Jamaica, Guatemala, Mexico, Costa Rica, Peru, Bolivia, and Chile. Cam lives in Windermere with his wife and three kids and serves on the Wildsight Invermere Branch Board of Directors.
The Wild Nature Tour will begin at the Farside Inn and Pub parking lot in the Fairmont Village Mall and, from there, we will carpool down into the Columbia Wetlands to do some birding!
