SUMMARY:Symphony of the Kootenays presents - 'Echelon Rising'
DESCRIPTION:Echelon Rising is Concert 1 of the 2017/18 Symphony of the Kootenays season. As ever\, the SOTK has prepared an exciting evening for classical music lovers.\n\nEnjoy three fascinating musical experiences in a concert we like to refer as Sticks and Strauss!.\n\nOur own Rob Maciak will delight an astonish playing the Marimba in Rosauro’s concerto. The second half will feature the elegant and charming suite from Le Bourgeois gentilhomme\, written by a master of orchestral sound\, Richard Strauss.\n\nProgram:\n\n \tLudwig van Beethoven - 'Fidelio Overture'.  The German heroism of Beethoven’s Fidelio Overture opens the season in classic style.\n \tNey Rosauro - 'Concerto #1 for Marimba' with featured soloist\, our own Rob Maciak. Rob will delight and astonish playing the Marimba in Rosauro’s concerto.*\n \tRichard Strauss - 'Le Bourgeois Gentilhomme'. The second half will feature the elegant and charming suite from Le Bourgeois gentilhomme\, written by a master of orchestral sound\, Richard Strauss.\n\n*About Rob Maciak: Born and raised in Calgary\, SOTK’s Principal Percussionist Rob Maciak graduated with distinction from the University of Calgary ‘s Department of Music in June of 2005\, following\, which he started working as a freelance musician and educator. Rob’s range of performance experience includes contemporary chamber music\, orchestral and wind orchestra music\, Latin\, jazz\, fusion\, and contemporary and jazz dance accompaniment.
