SUMMARY:Rocky Mountain Rally
DESCRIPTION:Rocky Mountain Rally 2018 will be the 45th annual event and will be held on country roads around the Invermere and Radium Hot Springs area again this year.\n\nWith varying altitudes and road surfaces including everything from dirt\, gravel\, rock and perhaps snow and ice\, the back-country roads in the area offer ideal venue for this annual  performance rally.\n\nThe event is not a race with the other drivers to get to the finish line first but is a performance-based rally that pits the drivers and co-drivers against the road and the clock. Because the competitors are separated by a minute from one another\, they rarely cross paths and scoring is on their ability to successfully complete the route and its many challenges.\n\nA car must travel at a pre-determined speed and hidden check-pointers along the route record the vehicles’ arrival times at those points. There is a penalty for each second the car is either early or late. Drivers have to drive at just the right speed and navigators must calculate the speed required to arrive at the check-points at exactly the time specified.\n\nThere will be one spectator location for each day; at this point it has yet to be determined.\n\nFollowing previous years\, registration will open at the Copper Point Resort on Thursday May 24\, followed by Recce and Tech Inspection on the 25\, and stages Saturday and Sunday the 26 -27. Full schedule from now until the rally weekend is available on the Competitor Page.\n\nThe Copper Point Resort is once again the host hotel and Rally Headquarters. Booking info including rates is now available. Hotel rates are valid for competitors and spectators – Book early for the best rooms!
