SUMMARY:LIVE Kicks presents: Stephen Fearing Trio
DESCRIPTION:Stephen Fearing has been long admired as one of Canada’s most singular and important singer-songwriters. Although born in Vancouver he grew up in Dublin\, only returning to his hometown in 1984 as a journeyman singer-songwriter with big dreams. He made quite a splash when he debuted at the Vancouver Folk Music Festival and never looked back\, gradually establishing himself as one of the most memorable and important voices on Canada’s indie music scene.\n\nHe has had an impressive solo career by anyone’s measure\, but achieved even further prominence as a founding member of Blackie and the Rodeo Kings\, the legendary Juno Award-winning roots-rock super-group that has created a remarkable oeuvre during the last two decades.\n\nLong considered to be one of Canada’s best songwriters\, Stephen Fearing is also celebrated for his virtuosic guitar skills and that warmly weather-beaten and expressive voice. And he has come a long way since his pure “folkie” days. Fearing’s tenure with the Rodeo Kings alongside bandmates Colin Linden and Tom Wilson has expanded his stylistic horizons\, adding elements of country\, Americana\, and rock into his always thoughtful songs.\n\nOver the years\, Stephen Fearing has released 10 albums as a solo artist\, impressive CDs featuring musical guests such as Richard Thompson\, Bruce Cockburn\, and Sarah McLachlan. His newest recording\, 2017’s Every Soul’s a Sailor\, has been getting stellar reviews internationally. Notwithstanding the delightfully raucous anti-Trump protest song “Blowhard Nation\,” the rest of the CD features the gentler\, more introspective sounds one associates with this endearingly soulful musical nomad.\n\nTo learn more about Stephen Fearing and listen to more of his music\, go to: http://stephenfearing.com/\n\n(text courtesy of KHC)\n\nTickets: On Sale September 11.
