SUMMARY:Invermere Heart of the Rockies Gran Fondo
DESCRIPTION:The Invermere Heart of the Rockies Gran Fondo inaugural event will take place this July in and around Lake Windermere and between Invermere and Canal Flats and it promises to be the start of a new summertime tradition in the Columbia Valley. In tandem with the Heart of the Rockies Triathlon which is celebrating its 36th year\, the Invermere Heart of the Rockies Gran Fondo is one of four new events taking place at James Chabot Provincial Park in Invermere on the same day - the Duathlon (sprint and standard)\, the Aquathon ( swim and bike) and a Run (5k and 10k) are the others - plus the Young Hearts Triathlon which is the day before. It's going to be quite a weekend!\n\nGran Fondo cyclists will have a choice of two loops:\n\n \tthe 60 km Loop the Lake cycle (aid station at the 30 km mark)\n \tthe 100 km Loop the Valley cycle (aid stations at the 50 km and 70 km marks)\n\nStarting beside the triathlon bike transition in the park\, cyclists in both the loops will enjoy a unique course profile with sweeping vistas of Lake Windermere or Columbia Lake\, tall mountain peaks and majestic stands of timber.The scenic views cannot be rivaled anywhere in the country.\n\nA sag wagon with technical support will be available as well as post event food & refreshments.\n\nSWAG bag includes a custom cycling jersey and other great product!\n\nWARNING – Although this is a timed event\, it is not a race. Traffic control is available in the town of Invermere but riders must yield to highway traffic on course and all turn points.
