SUMMARY:Headbanger Trail Challenge
DESCRIPTION:Headbanger Trail Challenge 2016 is about to get underway. If you are thinking that the name is rather odd\, it's really quite simple once you understand that every year in the autumn\, the Rocky Mountain bighorn sheep move from their summer abode in the higher elevations down to their winter campgrounds where food is easier to obtain. That winter campground\, for many of them of course\, is Radium Hot Springs.\n\nVisitors love to see them wandering across the roads in the village and munching on the greenery on the front lawns of the residents. It has become\, over the years\, a major tourist attraction. Of course\, autumn is the rutting season for the males in the herd and the sound of heads banging is  familiar. Thus the name Headbanger for this annual autumn trail run.\n\nThe Headbanger Trail Challenge is the brainchild of local running guru\, Ron Verboom. Ron has run the trails around Radium Hot Springs for many years. He decided one day that it was time to map out a challenging course and invite runners from all over to come and experience the exhilaration he feels while running on Radium's breathtaking (literally) trails. Hence\, the birth of the annual Headbanger Trail Challenge!\n\nAfter many years of being the race marshal\, Ron has passed the reins of this run to the very capable folks at Crazy Soles of Invermere\, BC.\n\nThe race will begin at the ball diamond at Legends Field. You can choose from the 1K\, the 3K\, the 5K or the 10K challenge (distances are approximate). The Course is a beautiful and adventurous route through the Sinclair Canyon Trails with multiple creek crossings! Prizes! Awards for top male and female in each distance\n\nRegistration is available in your choice of 4 ways.
