DESCRIPTION:Everyone's invited to the annual Crafts & Collectibles Market in the parking lot at Invermere Home Hardware.\n\nThe event is a fundraiser organized each spring by the Handmade Market group and this year's proceeds will support the 2756 Lord Strathcona’s Horse\, Royal Canadian Army Cadets Invermere\, BC. The Cadets will also be running the BBQ from 11 am to 3 pm.\n\nThe following information about the cadets has been supplied by the 2756 Invermere Cadets sponsoring committee. (our edit)\n\nThe Royal Canadian Army Cadets (RCAC) is a national Canadian youth program sponsored by the Canadian Armed Forces and the civilian Army Cadet League of Canada. It is recognized as Canada's oldest youth program. Under the authority of the National Defence Act\, the program is administered by the Canadian Armed Forces and funded through the Department of National Defence. The civilian partner of the Royal Canadian Army Cadets\, the Army Cadet League of Canada\, supports the corps at a more local level in ways which the Canadian Armed Forces do not.\n\n2756 has been parading in Invermere for 18 consecutive years. At present\, there are 20 local cadets from Edgewater to Canal Flats. Members are encouraged to become active and responsible members of their communities. The local cadets sell poppies\, participate in 3 Remembrance Day parades and 5 community parades and assist with different functions throughout each area such as Lions Club projects.\n\nThey are in need of upgrading field training equipment and purchasing new tents and sports uniforms as well as day-to-day expenses.
