Strand’s Old House Restaurant in Invermere invites you to another enjoyable evening of great music on Wednesday, September 7, 2011 when ‘Acres and Acres’ will be stopping in for a great performance as part of their western summer tour.
A couple of guys from the east coast, Kris Pope and Dave Scholten really know how to tug at the heartstrings. With an easy, laid-back sound reminiscent of farming country — old rusted tractors, blue skies and ripening grain as far as the eye can see and only the sound of a soaring hawk to break the stillness — Acres and Acres will take you back to the heart of what this land is all about.

Kris and Dave began playing together in an east-coast band called ‘Down With the Butterfly’. Eventually, wanting to get back to basics with their music, the pair struck out on their own, named themselves Acres and Acres, and inspired by the folk/roots genre, began writing their own songs.
“…it’s nice to shake it up and do something different,” Pope elaborates. “That way, music stays interesting and you will continue to be excited to play it for people.”
Their debut recording, All Nations was enthusiastically received by audiences across the country and was nominated for a Group Recording of the Year award at the East Coast Music Awards. Their songs tell stories that remind us of who we are — our strengths and foibles, joys and sorrows — with a plaintive background melody that just seeps right into the pores.
