Kicking Horse River Adventures
On the wildly beautiful Kicking Horse River near Golden you can choose from a wide variety of trips, locations and experiences on some of the most challenging whitewater ever, amid spectacular scenery and opportunities to view the abundant wildlife. There is something for every level of experience and ability on the upper, middle and lower sections.
If you’re an adrenaline junkie, you might choose the full-day Kicking Horse Challenge, the best whitewater trip in the Rocky Mountains and boasting the most rapids on the river. You’ll tackle all sections of the Kicking Horse River, starting on the upper section with a scenic float followed by a delicious steak BBQ lunch on the riverbank. Then you’ll head out into class 3 and 4 whitewater rapids on the middle section, a portage and into the notorious lower Kicking Horse Canyon for the ride of a lifetime!
The Kicking Horse Classic, another full-day rafting adventure for an intermediate experience, is a great way for families to enjoy the thrills and chills of the sport, letting you experience the upper and middle sections of the river. You’ll start off with a gentle float while you practice your rafting skills, then head into some whitewater. After a break for our famous steak BBQ lunch at the river’s edge, you’ll have the time of your life battling some class 3 and 4 whitewater.
Straight to the whitewater is the Kicking Horse Ultimate Whitewater trip, an afternoon on the most exciting sections of the river. Just jump right into the action with the class 3 and 4 rapids on the middle and lower canyons.
The Kicking Horse Express trip is designed especially for those on a tight schedule and who don’t want to waste any time getting into the thrill of some serious class 3 and 4 whitewater in the middle canyon. This is a great way to cool off on a hot afternoon.
For a more leisurely paddle with lots of opportunities to take in the breathtaking scenery and perhaps spot an eagle or a black bear, choose the Kicking Horse Scenic Float in the upper canyon. Columbia River Adventure
The meandering Columbia River flows north from its headwaters in Columbia Lake near Fairmont Hot Springs. The Columbia Wetlands is one of the largest in the world, home to 265 species of birds and recognized by the United Nations as a ‘Wetlands of International Importance’. The Glacier Raft Company offers a 1.5 hour Columbia Scenic Nature Float, perfect for families and those who appreciate a tranquil paddle in the quiet of the evening. Float the class 1 river with majestic mountain views, maybe catching a glimpse of a beaver, bald eagle or a great blue heron in the wetlands. No experience is necessary and guests will not get wet nor do they have to paddle.
Toby Creek Family Whitewater
Beautiful glacier-fed Toby Creek winds from its home high up in the Purcell Mountains through Panorama Resort, offering excellent whitewater rafting for families and first-timers as well as seasoned veterans. If you are looking for just the right blend of exciting class 1 to 3 whitewater and gorgeous scenery, take a half-day trip in the spectacular turquoise waters of Toby Creek. Perfect for families as no experience is necessary.
Whichever adventure you choose, you will be provided with professional guides and state-of-the-art rafting equipment and safety gear. All you have to bring is your swimsuit, a towel and sunscreen. Your Kicking Horse River trip will be recorded on HD video so you will have a lasting memento to take home with you. A photographer will be taking your rafting photos on all Toby Creek and Kicking Horse trips.
